ASTA appointed Scott Koepf president of the National Association of Commissioned Travel Agents. Koepf, who replaces NACTA founder Joanie Ogg, will start on April 1.

Previously, Koepf was vice president of strategic business units for Sabre Holdings. He was general manager for both Nexion (a host agency) and Jurni (a leisure travel consortium).

"Scott was the ideal candidate to take over NACTA's operations," said Bill Maloney, ASTA's executive vice president and COO. "His experience in all aspects of the industry and his commitment to travel agents will be an asset to NACTA as it moves forward.

"ASTA is committed to expanding NACTA and the many benefits members receive, such as the recently announced Virtual Cruise Night and Virtual Travel Sale," Maloney continued. "In hiring Scott, we are hiring a strong leader who can take the association to the next level of growth and profitability."

Koepf said he planned to "continue where Joanie Ogg left off, and make sure NACTA is not only the best association for home-based agents but one that helps agents in multiple ways to become more successful in this business."

Ogg recently left NACTA for a position at Travel Counsellors, a host agency.

Prior to joining Sabre, Koepf was president and owner of Ultimate Seminars, providing motivational and educational programs for travel and franchising, among other industries. Through Ultimate Seminars, Koepf produced the Ultimate Cruise Sales Seminar exclusively for Princess Cruises.

Koepf got his start in the travel agency business when he became the owner and manager of Cruise Holidays of Anaheim. Several years later, he went on to join Cruise Holidays International, where he held a variety of executive positions.
