Sandy Lane in Barbados will reopen Oct. 3, following a six-week closure and multimillion-dollar upgrade to the 112 guestrooms, spa and restaurants.
In addition to 16,000 square feet of new marble throughout public spaces, the luxury resort will debut an all-day, indoor/outdoor dining facility complete with an open grill, a wine store, beach bar, sushi bar, herb garden, live seafood tank and wood-burning oven.
Sandy Lane's 900-square-foot guestrooms have marble floors and bathrooms, mahogany plantation furniture, balconies and plasma TVs.
A five-bedroom villa ($25,000 per night during peak season) sleeps 14 with a private pool, butler, housekeeper, chef and 24-hour security guard.
Resort facilities include two 18-hole golf courses, nine tennis courts, a 47,000-square-foot spa, shops, seven bars and restaurants, and beach attendants who fetch drinks and cold towels.
Sandy Lane opened in 1961 and has played host to royalty, celebrities, socialites and movie stars over the years (golf legend Tiger Woods tied the knot at Sandy Lane in 2004). The resort was rebuilt in 2001 from the ground up.
