FAIRMONT
HOTELS & RESORTS will unfurl its flag on Anguilla when
the 140-room Fairmont Anguilla opens on the island's south coast in
2010. The luxury property will be the Toronto-based company's
fourth resort in the Caribbean, where it already has beachheads in
Barbados, Bermuda and on Canouan (under the Raffles brand) in the
Grenadines. The Anguilla project will include, in addition to the
hotel, an 18-hole Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course and club, and
the Fairmont Residences, composed of condominiums, villas and
estate homes. The hotel will offer 15,000 square feet of meetings
space, a 15,000-square-foot Willow Stream Spa, dining outlets, a
beach club and a variety of pools.

" Seaborne
Airlines, based in St. Croix with scheduled seaplane services
within the U.S. Virgin Islands and to San Juan, will launch weekend
seaplane flights to North Sound on Virgin Gorda in the British
Virgin Islands on July 6. The schedule calls for one roundtrip
flight Fridays through Sundays from San Juan to Virgin Gorda via
St. Thomas and a second roundtrip from St. Thomas to Virgin Gorda.
The carrier launched five new seaplane/ferry connections June 1
within the USVI and between St. Croix and West End and Road Town,

" Air Dominicana, a
new charter airline in the Dominican Republic, will launch 737-800
service to and from the East Coast of the U.S. from its hub in
Punta Cana in April 2008. Future routes will include
intra-Caribbean flights as well as service to Central America. A
second 737 will be added in June 2008, and a 767-300 in October
2008. The Dominican government is a minority partner in the
venture, according to Felix Jimenez, minister of tourism. A Web

Sheraton Cable Beach Resort in Nassau -- the former Radisson Cable
Beach Resort -- will open its doors June 12. The opening marks the
first phase in the development of the 1,000-acre Baha Mar site, a
$2.3 billion project that will eventually include four
Starwood-brand hotels and spas; a 1,000-room Caesars Resort Hotel
& Casino; an 18-hole golf course; meetings space; a 20-acre
pool and beachfront complex; and a village with retail shops,
restaurants and entertainment venues. Completion of the Baha Mar

" Elliott, a
hospitality and real estate firm in the Dominican Republic, has
partnered with Dennis Publishing, a New York-based media company
that publishes men's lifestyle magazines (Maxim and Stuff) and
entertainment publications (Blender and The Week) to launch
Maxim-branded luxury properties. Elliott owns the Sun Village
Resort & Spa brand in the DR and operates the Sun Village
Resort & Spa-Cofresi on the north coast. The new Maxim-branded
properties include the Maxim Bungalows at Cofresi Beach, which will
include 108 studio-, one- and two-bedroom accommodation when the
property opens in October, and the Maxim Bungalows at Juan Dolio on
the island's south coast, which will offer 240 rooms from studio
units to presidential suites when the resort opens in early 2008.
