AA and Cape Air expand codeshare in Caribbean

By Gay Nagle Myers

American Airlines expanded its codeshare agreement with Cape Air to include Cape Air’s flights between San Juan and Vieques and Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; Nevis; Anguilla; and Tortola, British Virgin Islands.

“Our codeshare relationship with Cape Air will provide our customers with more travel options in the Caribbean and increased access to the region,” said Art Torno, American’s vice president for Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

Members of American's AAdvantage program can earn and redeem miles on the codeshare flights operated by Cape Air for travel beginning Feb. 7 to Vieques, Mayaguez, Nevis and Anguilla and for travel beginning April 1 to Tortola.

American Eagle will drop most of its service from San Juan to Caribbean destinations by the end of March. American will continue to serve the bigger islands in the Caribbean from Miami. American Eagle will serve the Bahamas from Miami.
