Caribbean St. Croix hotel owner buys two more hotels on the island By Gay Nagle Myers / November 30, 2017 Share 1 -- The owner of the Caravelle Hotel & Casino in St. Croix has acquired the King Christian Hotel and the Company House Hotel. All three properties are in Christiansted, St. Croix's largest town. Property owner VIGL Operations was granted a casino license in 2016 for the 44-room Caravelle with the requirement of having a total of 75 rooms. By acquiring the 44-room King Christian and the 36-room Company House, VIGL now offers 124 guest rooms. All three hotels are open and accepting guests, but the Caravelle will close on April 30 to do renovations and reopen in September 2018. The hotel sustained some damage from Hurricane Maria. The adjacent casino and RumRunners restaurant will remain open.All three properties are within walking distance of shops, historic landmarks and restaurants as well diving and sailing charters that depart from the boardwalk near the Caravelle and King Christian.
