The new minister of tourism in the Bahamas is a familiar name and face.
With general elections restoring the Progressive Liberal Party to power and former prime minister Perry Christie back in office, Obie Wilchcombe once again took up the tourism reins, a position he held from 2002 to 2007.
Wilchcombe replaced Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace.
Wilchcombe, born in Freeport, has represented the West End (Grand Bahama) and Bimini constituency since 2002 and has pledged to create more economic and educational opportunities for both islands and help drive airlift and trade.
At the swearing in of his cabinet, Christie pledged to launch a sustained assault on crime in the destination and to revive tourism revenues.
