The new owner of the Resort at Singer Island has rebranded the South Florida property as a Marriott.

Urgo Hotels purchased the 239-suite condo-hotel out of bankruptcy for $7.1 million and immediately renamed it the Palm Beach Marriott Singer Island Beach Resort & Spa.

The resort opened in 2007 as a member of Starwood's Luxury Collection. The hotel's former owner, WCI Communities, informed Starwood in late August that it would not be honoring its management contract.

WCI, a luxury homebuilder, was preparing to emerge from Chapter 11 bankruptcy at the time.

The property is located on six acres of beachfront and features a lagoon-style swimming pool with a two-story waterfall and slide. The pool is surrounded by cabanas and a whirlpool.

The resort's one- and two-bedroom suites feature fully equipped kitchens and balconies with views of the Atlantic Ocean or Intracoastal Waterway.
