Azamara Quest arrives in Singapore for repairs

By Donna Tunney
Azamara Club Cruises’ Azamara Quest is undergoing repairs at the Sembawang shipyard in Singapore, where the vessel arrived on April 9.

A spokeswoman for the line said that repairs to the damage caused by an engine room fire March 30 are “proceeding as planned.” She said the 694-passenger ship is scheduled to operate a 14-night cruise from Mumbai, India, to Suez, Egypt, on April 24.

The fire interrupted a 17-day cruise that had departed from Hong Kong March 26, and caused the cancelation of its April 12 cruise from Singapore.

The blaze, which was contained to the engine room, temporarily caused the ship to lose propulsion power about 200 miles off Borneo. Engineers on board repaired one engine which enabled the ship to travel to Sandakan, Malaysia, on April 1.
