Silversea Cruises will begin offering high-end land tours as
a pre- and post-cruise option, starting in 2018.
The line's "Couture Collection" will feature private
helicopter service in Mongolia, vintage rail in India, and Gulfstream jets in
and out of Antarctica. Prices average $34,000 per guest for each five‐
to 11‐day
adventure, with the 11‐day South Pole itinerary starting at $78,000 per guest.
The first offering, departing Jan. 2, is the "White
Desert & South Pole" excursion that offers flights in and out of
Antarctica on a Gulfstream business jet and a stay at Whichaway Camp. It can be
combined with Silver Spirit's Dec. 18 voyage to Antarctica, Silversea.
Another excursion in the collection is the $45,199 "Revealing
the Legends of Fire and Ice," a five-day trip in Iceland that includes
kayaking, mountain biking, lunch atop a glacier-capped volcano and passage
through a man-made ice tunnel, as well as a stay at Deplar, a sheep farm turned
luxury lodge.
Departures on Aug. 2 or 8 can be combined with Silver Cloud
expeditions departing July 27 or Aug. 8.
The least expensive of nine selections in the collection,
the six-day "Namibia & Rovos Rail," includes a stay at the Little
Kulala Camp in the Kulala Wilderness Reserve, a flight-seeing excursion, a hot-air
balloon trip and a journey from Pretoria to Cape Town via the luxury Rovos Rail.
Departures are listed for Jan. 8 or March 14 at $11,299, with connections to
the Silver Spirit's Jan. 15 cruise or the Silver Cloud's March 21 trip.
"Our guests are seasoned luxury travelers looking to
discover the least accessible corners of our planet, where nature can still
astound with its untouched beauty," said Manfredi Lefebvre d'Ovidio,
Silversea's executive chairman.
The Couture Collection itineraries were put together by
Conrad Combrink, vice president of product development, expeditions and
experiences.
