The Carnival Imagination began offering three- and four-day cruises to Mexico from Long Beach, Calif.

The Imagination joins the Carnival Inspiration, which already sails similar itineraries.

Carnival’s deployment in Southern California now comprises three ships expected to carry 550,000 passengers this year.

The Carnival Miracle sails seven-day Mexico and 15-day Hawaii itineraries from Long Beach on a seasonal basis.

Carnival Cruise Lines said the arrival of Imagination solidifies its position as Southern California’s top cruise operator.
