Carnival claims record week of bookings

By Tom Stieghorst
Carnival Cruise Lines said that it set a one-week record for bookings between Jan. 28 and Feb. 3.

The line said it took reservations for a record 187,283 guests.

CEO Gerry Cahill attributed the record week to consumer perceptions of value, strong support from travel agents and marketing activities, including promotion of the refurbished Carnival Destiny, which will soon become the Carnival Sunshine.

Carnival operates 24 ships, primarily in North America and Europe.
