Carnival promotion sweetens points reward for agents

By Tom Stieghorst
Carnival Cruise Lines said travel agents can earn triple the number of usual points in its rewards program for 2014 bookings made by Oct. 19.

A booking that typically earns 150 points will earn 450 points, Carnival said.

The points can be redeemed for gift cards, iPads and other items, starting at a 2,500 point threshold and going up to 100,000 points for top merchandise.

Travel agents must book their clients on 2014 sailings from September 23 to October 19, and enter their eligible bookings in the Travel Agent Rewards Program in order to receive the triple rewards points.

"Contrary to some thoughts, travel agents do exist ... We are usually able to get clients better prices, and we know we can see that clients have better experiences. And as our personal motto is: Our Service Travels With You."
