Costa Cruises will deploy the 3,800-passenger Costa Favolosa in the Middle East for the 2011-12 season, said company president Gianni Onorato.

From Dec. 16 through April 6, the ship will operate a series of seven-night cruises roundtrip from Dubai. Port calls are Muscat, Oman; Fujairah and Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates; and Khasab, Oman.

The Costa Favolosa is the line’s newest ship; it entered service in July.

Costa began operating in the Middle East in 2006, and said the deployment of its largest vessel “solidifies its leadership role in the UAE market.”

The Costa Victoria and Costa Allegra visit some of the same ports on longer cruises in February and March.
