Cruise West sells Spirit of Oceanus

CW-SpiritofOceanusCruise West’s 120-passenger Spirit of Oceanus was sold to a Danish company, which renamed it the Sea Spirit and is making the ship available for a long-term charter.

International Shipping Partners, a Miami-based ship-management company, said that it has been appointed technical and commercial manager of the ship by its new owner, TN Cruise K/S, a company controlled by a group of Danish investors.

International Shipping Partners manages several river cruise and expedition vessels.

There were rumors that the Spirit of Oceanus had been sold began when embattled Cruise West terminated its 335-day world cruise last week in Newfoundland, Canada, calling it the first move in its restructuring.

Cruise West did not say at that time where the ship was going.

Cruise West acquired the Spirit of Oceanus in 2001 from Star Cruises, which operated the vessel as the MegaStar Sagittarius. Before that, it was Renaissance Cruises' Renaissance V. The ship was built in 1991.
