In response to anti-American protests, Royal Caribbean International said it has canceled the Mariner of the Seas’ next Egypt port call “in an abundance of caution.”

Also, Holland America Line has decided to skip La Goulette, Tunisia, on Sept. 14. The Ryndam will visit Sardinia instead.

The Mariner of the Seas, which departs Civitavecchia, Italy, on Sept. 15, will no longer call in Alexandria, Egypt, on Sept. 18. Instead, the ship will call in Sicily on Sept. 16 and Malta on Sept. 17.

“We will continue to closely monitor the situation in Egypt and will contact guests or their travel agents should we make additional modifications to upcoming itineraries,” Royal Caribbean said.
