Disney Magic to leave Galveston in 2014

By Tom Stieghorst
Disney Cruise Line announced deployments for the first half of 2014, including moving the Disney Magic from Galveston to Port Canaveral, Fla.

The ship is scheduled to offer three- and four-night Bahamas cruises from January to May 2014.

Disney said the new deployment will allow more use of its Castaway Cay private island and combine better with trips to Walt Disney World in Orlando.

The Disney Magic began offering Western Caribbean and Bahamas cruises in September from Galveston. Prior to that, it had been sailing from New York.

Disney did not say what itineraries the Disney Magic would sail after May 2014.

It said the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy would sail from Port Canaveral, and Disney Wonder from Miami.
