Disney names new cruise line chief, realigns businesses

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has put three of its vacation businesses under the leadership of Karl Holz, a 13-year veteran of the company.

Holz will oversee Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney (a tour operator division) and Disney's timeshare resorts that aren't part of the major theme parks.

"The vision is to create one organization within the company that is focused on operating the businesses that take the Disney brand to new places," Disney said in a statement.

Holz's new title is president of Disney Cruise Line and New Vacation Operations. Tom McAlpin, the current president of Disney Cruise Line, is leaving the company.

During his Disney career, Holz has been president of Disney Cruise Line, President of Euro Disney S.A.S. and senior vice president of Walt Disney World operations.

Holz begins in his new role next week.
