Holland America Line completed a renovation of the Statendam before it departed Fort Lauderdale for a 14-day Caribbean voyage on April 11.

The 1,260-passenger ship received new stateroom furnishings; bathroom upgrades; 16 spa staterooms; the Canaletto alternative restaurant; the Showroom at Sea nightclub; the Merabella jewelry shop; and the Mix lounge area, which consists of three bars (Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales).

There is no charge to eat at Canaletto, but reservations are suggested.

Statendam is the fourth HAL ship to be renovated under the line’s Signature of Excellence upgrade program. Refits for the Veendam, Rotterdam and Ryndam already have been done.

The Maasdam will be final ship to receive Signature of Excellence upgrades; its drydock is scheduled for April 2011.
