Holland America Line will step up its involvement with Canada cruises on the St. Lawrence River in 2013.

The Veendam will make eight turnaround voyages from Quebec City in each of the next three years, according to tourism and municipal officials from Quebec City. They expect an additional 20,000 visitors to result.

In addition, a promotional campaign will position ports on the St. Lawrence as cruise ship destinations.

Maasdam will visit the port of Montreal in July and August, and the Seabourn Sojourn will stop at seven ports along the St. Lawrence. Seabourn and HAL are sister cruise lines.

Holland America will spend $450,000 on the promotional campaign, the officials said, and the Quebec government and tourism-promotion agencies will contribute a total of $1.15 million.

This article has been corrected to reflect that the Veendam voyages will be over the next three years rather than over a three-year period.
