Cruise Haimark Line cancels Cuba cruise By Tom Stieghorst / February 11, 2016 Share 1 -- Haimark Line has canceled the first in a series of cruises between Miami and Cuba as negotiations over its Saint Laurent ship remain unresolved. The roundtrip cruise was to depart Feb. 29 from Miami on a 10-day voyage visiting Havana and a six other ports of call.Haimark’s only ship, the Saint Laurent, is chartered from Clipper Cruises. A dispute over an insurance claim between the two landed Haimark in bankruptcy proceedings in October.Haimark had hoped that a sale of the company to a Los Angeles private equity investor announced Jan. 25 would smooth the way for the Cuba cruises to go forward. But in an e-mail this week, Haimark president Hans Rood said the company has been forced to cancel the Feb. 29 cruise. He said the process of negotiating for a vessel has been difficult. “This has to come to a resolution [soon],” he said.
