More ships alter itineraries due to storm

By Gay Nagle Myers

Royal Caribbean diverted other ships due to Hurricane Earl. The Freedom of the Seas, which set sail on Sunday from Port Canaveral, is heading to the Western Caribbean ports of Grand Cayman and Cozumel later on Wednesday and Thursday instead of scheduled calls in St. Thomas and St. Maarten. It is spending Tuesday at sea.

Freedom of the Seas will spend Friday and Saturday at sea and return to Port Canaveral on Sunday as scheduled.

Monarch of the Seas was unable to call at CocoCay, Bahamas, on Tuesday. The ship will now sail directly to Nassau, where it will stay until midnight on Wednesday.

The Monarch will spend Thursday at sea and return to Port Canaveral on Friday, as scheduled. The Monarch is sailing a four-night itinerary, which departed Port Canaveral on Aug. 30.

Majesty of the Seas will extend its port call in Key West on Tuesday until early Wednesday. It will spend the remainder of Wednesday at sea and call at Nassau on Thursday.

The Majesty will return to Miami on Friday, as scheduled. Majesty of the Seas is sailing a four-night itinerary, which departed Miami on Aug. 30.

Other cruise ship itinerary shifts resulting from Hurricane Earl remain in place as of Tuesday.

Representatives from Princess Cruises and Disney Cruise Line report no itinerary changes. Emerald Princess is sailing in the Western Caribbean; the Disney Wonder is sailing a Bahamas and Florida cruise.

Celebration Cruise Line, which offers two-night Bahamas cruises from Palm Beach, Fla., to Grand Bahama, has not canceled sailings.
