NCL names mega-ship the Norwegian Epic

The Norwegian Epic is the name of the Norwegian Cruise Line ship formerly known as the F3.

"Just as the name implies, the ship will be the largest and most innovative Freestyle Cruising ship to date," NCL said in a statement.

The 150,000-ton ship will carry 4,200 passengers.

NCL also unveiled the Epic’s first itineraries: It will offer alternating eastern and western Caribbean cruises from Miami beginning in summer 2010, following a series of inaugural events in Europe and the U.S.

NCL said it would open the Epic’s sailings for group bookings for agents in mid-March. Cruises will go on sale to the public later in the spring.
