CLIA said a record 6,800 travel agencies have registered to host 5,360 live or virtual travel events during National Cruise Vacation Week, Oct. 21 to 28.

According to CLIA, the events from last year's cruise week generated generated $55 million in cruise sales and more than $7 million in commissions for participating agents.

CLIA provides help to agents in setting up mini-websites to market special cruise fares and promotions.

Agents can also host live events at their travel agencies, in their homes or in public venues like hotels or community centers.
