Norwegian Epic to sail the Mediterranean in 2011

By Jerry Limone

The Norwegian Epic will spend the summer of 2011 in the Mediterranean.

Next year, Norwegian Cruise Line's new ship will sail a seven-day western Mediterranean itinerary from May through October. Cruises will depart Barcelona and call in Florence/Pisa (Livorno), Rome (Civitavecchia), Naples and the Spanish island of Majorca.

The Mediterranean cruises, along with the ship’s Caribbean and transatlantic sailings for 2011-12, go on sale to Latitudes members and top-producing travel agents on Wednesday and to the general public on Thursday, NCL said.

The 4,200-passenger Epic is slated to make its debut in July, sailing the Caribbean out of Miami through April 30, 2011. Caribbean cruises will resume on Nov. 5, 2011.
