Royal Caribbean's Oasis of the Seas will be christened on Monday evening in Fort Lauderdale, with seven celebrities serving as godmothers – one for each of the ship's seven neighborhoods.
Singer and songwriter Gloria Estefan is a Royal Caribbean godmother for the second time. Estefan also fulfilled that role for the Empress of the Seas in 1989.
Also on hand will be Michelle Kwan, the most decorated figure skater in U.S. history; English actress Jane Seymour, a winner of Emmy and Golden Globe awards; and swimmer Dara Torres, who competed in five Olympics and won a total of 12 medals in those Games.
The other godmothers are gymnast Shawn Johnson, winner of a gold and three silver medals at the 2008 Olympics; actress Keshia Knight Pulliam, best-known for her childhood role as Rudy on "The Cosby Show" in the 1980s; and TV personality and model Daisy Fuentes.
The 5,400-passenger Oasis will set sail Tuesday on its first revenue-producing cruise, a four-night Bahamas sailing.
