Oceania offers first world cruise

By Tom Stieghorst
Oceania Cruises said its first world cruise will set sail in 2015, offering passengers a 180-day tour of five continents.

The full cruise will offer 89 ports of call, including 13 new to Oceania. It departs Miami on Jan. 10, 2015 and returns on July 8.

Included in the voyage are 11 overnight calls plus four two-night calls in Cape Town, South Africa; Yangon, Myanmar; Singapore; and Shanghai.

Bookings open July 17 at rates that start at $39,999 per person. That early booking rate is good through Sept. 17, Oceania said.

The cruise will be offered on the Insignia, a ship that is currently on charter but will return to the fleet in 2014.

Oceania's amenity package includes a 2-for-1 cruise fare, free first-class airfare and free prepaid gratuities.

Additionally, guests will receive a free visa package (including entry visas for 16 countries), unlimited Internet and laundry service, luggage delivery, roundtrip transfers and free onboard medical service, which Oceania said is a first for the industry.
