Port Canaveral hires CEO

By Tom Stieghorst
Port Canaveral has hired John Walsh as CEO of the world's third-largest cruise port.

Walsh had been acting port director since the departure of Stan Payne in March. Before that, he was executive vice president for infrastructure.

During the past two years, he has directed planning, engineering, design, construction and development of more than $300 million in planned capital projects.

Port Canaveral is third among ports worldwide in overnight cruise passengers, trailing only Miami and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.
