Princess Cruises adds level to loyalty program

By Tom Stieghorst

Princess Cruises said it will create a new tier of benefits in its Captain's Circle loyalty club called "Medallion" that will fit between the current Gold and Platinum levels.

Medallion is for passengers on a fourth or fifth cruise, or between 31 and 50 cruise days, Princess said.

Medallion membership will provide all the benefits that go to Gold members.

In addition it offers more insurance, including a complimentary upgrade to Platinum level when members purchase the Princess Vacation Protection package; access to a preferred shoreside Captain's Circle help desk phone line; a 10% discount off the Reflections Cruise souvenir DVD; and a two-toned burgundy-and-gold membership pin.

Gold level benefits include price discounts, special onboard functions and a quarterly magazine.

Tiers above Medallion are Platinum (more than 50 days cruising) and Elite (more than 150 days cruising).
