Regent Seven Seas Cruises to offer free WiFi to some guests

By Tom Stieghorst
Regent Seven Seas Cruises said it will make 500 minutes of WiFi complimentary for guests at or above concierge level. Regent said two-thirds of staterooms are concierge class and above.

The move coincides with an upgrade of WiFi capability that should be finished by the start of 2014, Regent said.

Regent said the changes will double the amount of satellite bandwidth available to make Internet access faster and broaden the reach of WiFi to all areas of the ship.

Existing onboard hardware such as modems and routers will be swapped out for more advanced technology.

Regent said the move should add to its reputation for including a range of amenities in the basic cruise fare.
