Royal Caribbean bumps agent pay in end-of-year sales promotion

By Jerry Limone
Royal Caribbean International is adding two points of commission on all new 2012 bookings made from Sept. 20 to Oct. 5.

The incremental commission percentage will be applied directly to qualifying bookings and paid by the end of the promotional period, Royal Caribbean said.

Also, agents are getting the opportunity to sell free cabin upgrades on some sailings that depart over the next few months.

U.S. and Canada travel agents who book their clients on a short Bahamas cruise aboard the Monarch of the Seas or Majesty of the Seas departing October through January 2013 can sell an outside cabin for the price of an inside cabin.

Clients interested in a seven-night itinerary on the Oasis of the Seas or Allure of the Seas can get a balcony room in the Central Park or Boardwalk neighborhood for the price of an outside cabin.

For upgrade offers on new bookings, travel agents should ask for the UPG price program to be added to their client’s reservation.

  • Consumer media discover that travel agents do exist

"Contrary to some thoughts, travel agents do exist ... We are usually able to get clients better prices, and we know we can see that clients have better experiences. And as our personal motto is: Our Service Travels With You."
