Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. has promoted Jason Liberty to CFO, replacing Brian Rice.

Rice, who is retiring in spring 2014, will remain vice chairman until his retirement while handing off the CFO duties to Liberty.

Rice has been with Royal Caribbean for more than 20 years, serving as CFO since 2006 and vice chairman since 2012. Richard Fain, RCCL’s chairman and CEO, called Rice “a key figure in the development of Royal Caribbean, and an important leader who has made significant contributions to the entire cruise industry.”

Specifically, Fain said Rice was a pioneer in revenue management in the cruise industry. “Brian’s foresight and financial discipline helped us all become better sellers,” said Fain.

Liberty joined Royal Caribbean in 2005 and most recently served as senior vice president, strategy and finance.

Henry Pujol has been named senior vice president and controller, and in his new role will report to Liberty.
