Silversea adds third expedition ship

By Tom Stieghorst
Silversea Cruises has posted information and itineraries on its website for an additional expedition ship called Silver Discoverer.

The ship, Silversea's third expedition vessel, will sail in Australia, Micronesia, Indonesia and Asia beginning with a 16-day cruise on March 1, 2014, from Bali to Cairns, Australia.

The ship will do several cruises from Nome, Alaska, next July and August.

Silver Discoverer carries 128 passengers. Built in 1989, it previously sailed under the name Clipper Odyssey for Zegrahm Expeditions of Seattle.

The addition brings the number of ships operated by Silversea to eight, including its two other expedition ships, Silver Explorer and Silver Galapagos, which was added this year.
