Cruise Silversea drops calls in Ukraine and Crimea By Tom Stieghorst / May 16, 2014 Share 1 -- Silversea Cruises said that continuing unrest in Ukraine has led it to drop calls this summer and fall at Yalta, Odessa and Sevastopol on four Black Sea itineraries. The changes affect three sailings on the Silver Spirit and one on Silver Cloud.Silversea said Silver Spirit's July 21 seven-day sailing will remain entirely a Black Sea itinerary with Trabzon, Turkey, replacing Odessa. Three new nine-day voyages will focus on destinations in Greece and Turkey, and also retain the original Black Sea ports of Constanta, Romania, and Nessebar, Bulgaria. The nine-day voyages depart from Istanbul on Aug. 20, Sept. 29 and Oct. 13. On those voyages, Silversea is adding a $200 onboard credit or a day in Bucharest, featuring a scenic drive through Romania's countryside, a Romanian-style lunch and visits to the capital city's Palace of Parliament, Patriarchal Hill, open-air Village Museum and Revolution Square. ___Follow Tom Stieghorst on Twitter @tstravelweekly.
