Steigenberger makes foray into Nile river cruising

Frankfurt-based Steigenberger, parent company of Steigenberger Hotels and InnerCity Hotels, will have three cruise ships in Egypt this October.

The Steigenberger Minerva and the Steigenberger Legacy will cruise the Nile between Luxor and Aswan, offering three-, four-and seven-night itineraries.

A third ship, the Omar El Khayam,will operate three, four- and seven-night sailings on Lake Nasser between Aswan and Abu Simbel.

According to a statement on the company's website, each ship has 70 to 80 staterooms.

Steigenberger said that the ships would be operated under an agreement with Cairo-based Travcotels, which has a fleet of 20 cruise ships.

Steigenberger operates four hotels in Egypt.
