Tourist dies in bus crash during BVI shore excursion

By Jerry Limone

A Caribbean Princess passenger was killed in a bus accident in the British Virgin Islands during a shore excursion on Tuesday, according to Princess Cruises.

At about 9:35 a.m. in Tortola, a tour bus carrying a group of 20 passengers left the road and rolled over, said Princess. A 24-year-old man from Rochester, N.Y., died, and two others were seriously injured. The deceased was traveling with his parents.

"We are still in the process of determining the details of the accident, but it appears as though the bus left the road and turned over as it was taking passengers on the Tropical Forest Hike and Beach excursion," Princess said.

The Caribbean Princess is on a seven-day Southern Caribbean cruise from San Juan calling at St. Thomas, Tortola, Antigua, St. Lucia and Barbados.
