A Greek ferry company has acquired EasyCruise from EasyGroup, the company founded by Stelios Haji-Ioannou.

Hellenic Seaways acquired the brand and the line's 574-passenger ship, the EasyCruise Life, which has been operating in Greece.

Hellenic Seaways operates a fleet of 32 fast ferries in Greece.

The move follows Haji-Ioannou's investment via EasyGroup in Sea Star Capital, one of the main shareholders of Hellenic Seaways.

"Stelios has always used different shareholding structures to finance the development of the Easy brand so for our partners and customers it is business as usual at EasyCruise," said Paul Ellerby, EasyCruise's sales and marketing director.

EasyGroup acquired 5.5% of Sea Star Capital in July.

The story was updated with information that EasyGroup owns shares in the holding company that now owns EasyCruise.
