Windstar to include special event for each cruise

By Tom Stieghorst
Starting in 2015, Windstar Cruises will include a private land event for guests as part of each cruise.

The event is included in the cruise price and is intended to give guests and in-depth and authentic local experience.

An example is dinner at the Nam Long restaurant, surrounded by gardens, on the Thu Bon River in Vietnam. Diners will see floating lanterns gliding down the river while listening to traditional music and watching local dancers.

The dinner is preceded by a private performance of lion dancers.

Guests will have the opportunity to take part in interactive workshops of Vietnamese letter drawing, lantern-making and wood engraving.

Other examples include an after-hours tour and dinner under the stars in the Celsus Library of Ephesus or a private ballet performance in the Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Windstar operates four ships, and will take delivery of two more next year, opening possibilities for new itineraries not previously offered.
