The M/S Expedition, belonging to G Adventures, was built in Scandinavia as a passenger and vehicle ferry in 1972.
In spring 2009 she was converted at a cost of $15 million into an expedition ship in a Finnish yard for cruises in extreme northern and southern latitudes. She measures 6,333 tons, has a length of 345 ft and a 16-knot cruising speed.
