HOUSTON -- Aeromexico, Mexico's largest airline, said it
transported a record number of passengers in 2000.
Aeromexico said it moved 9.75 million passengers systemwide last
year, a 26.5% increase compared with 1999, when the airline
transported 8.67 million passengers.
Between the U.S. and Mexico, the airline said it transported
2.14 million passengers last year, compared with 1.69 million in
1999, a 12.4% increase.
"Since 1994, Aeromexico has increased daily flights between the
U.S. and Mexico by nearly 85% to meet the growing demand in this
market, which has sustained a 5.4% annual growth rate since 1988,"
said Jose Manuel Diaz de Rivera, Aeromexico's chief marketing
officer.
