Camino Real debuts business traveler brand By Jorge Sidron / March 25, 2003 Share 1 -- MEXICO CITY -- Camino Real Hotels and Resorts, Mexico's oldest hotel company, launched its Ejecutivo brand with the opening of the 137-room Camino Real Ejecutivo Perinorte in an industrial area north of Mexico City. Ejecutivo is the company's new hotel brand geared to business travelers in Mexico. The hotel is located in an area that's home to numerous Mexican firms and U.S. multinational corporations, the Ejecutivo brand's major target markets.Olegario Vazquez Aldir, CEO of Camino Real Hotels and Resorts, said the company is bullish on its prospects for tapping the lucrative business market in Mexico.He said it will do this by maintaining its focus on offering luxury accommodations and efficient service while introducing amenities for the business traveler.About 65% of the brand's customers are expected to be Mexican businesspeople, with the bulk of international visitors coming from the U.S.Built at a cost of $10 million, or about $70,000 per room, the Camino Real Ejecutivo Perinorte features more than 3,200 square feet of meetings space with room for functions of up to 300 people.The hotel also offers a 24-hour business center with secretarial services, a fitness center, a lobby bar, a restaurant and 24-hour room service.Rooms come with the latest amenities, including two-line phones, Internet access, an oversize work desk and a safe-deposit box big enough to store a laptop.The hotel is offering an introductory rate of $85 a night, double. Regular rates are expected to fall below what Camino Real typically charges.
