Holiday Inn, tour operators drum up agent deals By Henry Magenheim / August 07, 2001 Share 1 -- JENSEN BEACH, Fla. -- The Holiday Inn Oceanside here on Hutchinson Island offers guests $5.3 million worth of renovated facilities as well as off-season, value-added packages, all commissionable. The renovation covered the hotel's 179 rooms and suites, the restaurant, lounge, banquet facilities, public areas and the exterior.The Holiday Inn offers tour operators a Stay Seven Nights, Pay for Five Nights deal to pass along to agents and their clients, according to Mary Palczer, director of sales and marketing.Among operators participating are Gogo Worldwide Vacations, Ramsey, N.J.; Mark Travel Corp., Milwaukee (on behalf of US Airways Vacations and other companies it represents); New World Travel, North Miami Beach, Fla.; Magic Carpet Vacations, Boston, and Access USA/Value Added Vacations, Orlando.The property is ready to negotiate similar deals with motorcoach tour firms, Palczer said. For groups, the hotel can arrange as many meals as necessary.The Oceanview restaurant is full service, and the Oceanview Lounge has both a happy hour and live entertainment (occasionally a karaoke session).The inn also offers golf, tennis and massage therapy packages. Golf is played at area courses.The hotel can set up tee times for guests at several courses, including the PGA Golf Club/The Reserve, Port St. Lucie. Guests get a hotel voucher with preferred rates at area courses, according to Bill Pullen, general manager.Among the other golf courses guests can play on are Eagle Marsh, Cutter Sound, the Champions at Summerfield, Ballantrae, PGA Country Club/St. Lucie West and Golden Bear at Hammock Creek.Greens fees at these courses typically range from $20 to $25.Tennis is played on three hard courts on site. Massage services, a fitness center and a game room also are on site.Rack rates through Dec. 22 are $99 for accommodations with a street view and $129 for an ocean view.Florida resident rates, which are commissionable, are $69 and $99, respectively, Sundays through Thursdays, and $79 and $109 on Fridays and Saturdays.Hutchinson Island is flanked by the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway/Indian River.
