The itineraries are the Highlights of Thailand, Magnificent India and Nepal, Yangtze Interlude and China Family Holiday.In most cases, a children's activity coordinator will be on board for the family programs."On the Yangtze Interlude, you have dinner with a local family. On the China Family Holiday, you have kite-flying in Tiananmen Square," a spokeswoman said.A&K introduced a few family departures in the mid-1990s. This year, they are offered on 23 itineraries, 59 departures in all.Highlights of Thailand includes sightseeing by private boat in Bangkok, an excursion to Sukhothai and an elephant ride in Mae Hong Son.The land-only rate through March is $2,990 per person, double. The supplement for air from the West Coast starts from $800 for economy and $3,925 for business class. Domestic flights are an additional $185.The Magnificent India and Nepal itinerary includes visits to Delhi, the Taj Mahal, Chitwan National Park and Kathmandu; a private cruise on Lake Pichola at Udaipur; and a private dawn cruise on the Ganges.The rate is $5,835 per person, double, land only, for departures from September through March.From New York, economy class air starts from $1,315; business class from $5,425. Domestic flights are an additional $180.The Yangtze Interlude includes visits to Shanghai's waterfront, the terra-cotta warriors in Xian, a three-night cruise of the Yangtze and excursions to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, Chongqing and Suzhou.Prices start at $4,470 per person, double. A child under age 12 sharing with one adult costs $3,240. Domestic flights cost $450; $345 for kids. International air from the West Coast starts at $755; $4,210, business class.The China Family Holiday includes the Xian Zoo; a full-day cruise on the Li River; visits to the terra-cotta warriors and Reed Flute Cave; sampan sailing at Aberdeen fishing village and a tram ride to Victoria Peak in Hong Kong.The land price is $4,690 per person, double; $2,995 for a child under 12 sharing with one adult; $2,620 for a child under 12 with two adults.Air from the West Coast starts at $760 for adults, $695 for children under 12. Business class fare is from $5,285 for adults, $4,100 for children.A&K also will be adding family departures to its Images of Indo-China program for 2003.
