LVCVA fashions program with shoppers in mind July 10, 2001 Share 1 -- LAS VEGAS -- Shopping is important. Just ask the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) and the Travel Industry Association of America. Both organizations have conducted surveys that reveal shopping as the No. 1 activity engaged in while on vacation. The TIA study covered the national market, whereas the LVCVA survey focused on Las Vegas.In addition, the LVCVA's Las Vegas Visitors Profile Study shows that, on average, visitors spend more on shopping per person ($116.14) than on shows ($85.65) and sightseeing ($62.46).To that end, the LVCVA and several retail establishments have teamed to promote the collection of retailers that have set up shop here.The Shop Las Vegas program includes a shopping guide -- available at participating retailers -- that highlights the city's shopping malls, outlet shops and resort shops.Included is a short description of each venue, store hours and contact information as well as a Shop Las Vegas Passport card that entitles the holder to gifts and discounts at participating retailers.To celebrate the program, the Ultimate Las Vegas Shopping Spree Sweepstakes was created.The grand prize includes roundtrip air for two to Las Vegas, a three-night hotel stay, roundtrip airport limousine transfers and a $5,000 shopping spree at the Fashion Show mall, Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas and Forum Shops at Caesars.Complete rules and entry information can be obtained at www.shop.vegasfreedom.com.
