Marriott opens two properties

WASHINGTON -- Marriott International opened two new TownePlace Suites by Marriott hotels this fall, one in Newark, Calif., and another in Houston.

The Newark property, in the vicinity of Silicon Valley, has 127 suites with rates starting at $69 a night.

Marriott owns and manages the hotel, the first TownePlace Suites in the Newark area, located about 14 miles from San Jose Airport.

The property offers studios, or one- and two-bedroom suites. Features include full kitchens; distinct living and sleeping areas; two-line telephones with data ports and voice mail, and housekeeping service twice a week.

Marriott's other addition is the 128-suite Houston Northwest TownePlace Suites, which has rates starting at $89 a night.

The hotel, to be managed by Marriott, is about 15 miles from Intercontinental Airport.
