MexSeaSun spring program pays 15% on e-bookings March 12, 2002 Share 1 -- MEXICO CITY -- In an attempt to boost travel agent business, MexSeaSun, the tour operator partner of Mexicana Airlines, hiked commissions to 15% on electronic bookings made through March 31. The company previously paid 10% on electronic bookings. The operator's "Spring Break Bonus" promotion is valid for travel completed by Dec. 15. MexSeaSun is available through ApolloGalileo USA's Leisure Shopper, Sabre, Worldspan and Amadeus, as well as VAX Vacation Access.Meanwhile, Mexicana has been busy expanding its U.S. routes and rearranging its flight schedules.The airline launched twice-weekly service between Laredo, Texas, and Mexico City March 9.The flights are scheduled to run Saturdays and Sundays aboard a Fokker 100 aircraft with room for 101 passengers in executive and tourist classes.Saturday flights depart Laredo at 10:45 a.m. and arrive in Mexico City at 12:30 p.m. The return flight departs Mexico City at 8 a.m. and arrives in Laredo at 9:45 a.m.On Sundays, the flight departs Laredo at 5 p.m. and arrives in Mexico City at 6:45 p.m. The return flight leaves at 2:15 p.m. and arrives at 4 p.m.In conjunction with the new flights, packages are available through MexSeaSun for clients departing from Laredo.Mexicana on Feb. 3 reshuffled its flight schedule from New York (Newark) in response to customer demand for earlier flights to Mexico City, according to a Mexicana spokesman.The flights now depart daily at 8:10 a.m. and arrive in Mexico City at 12:35 p.m. The return flight departs at 2:40 p.m. and arrives in Newark at 8 p.m.For package information, call MexSeaSun at (866) 263-9732 or visit the operator's Web site at www.mexseasun.com.
