Progressive discounts, added services at Destination resorts By Felicity Long / October 06, 2009 Share 1 -- U.S. ski resorts get a bad rap for being among the most expensive in the world, and the recent proliferation of high-end mountain properties has only added to that reputation. In this economy, however, even luxury clients like a bargain. But that doesn't necessarily mean a tough sell for travel agents looking to sell up. According to the 2009 National Travel Monitor Survey, released by Ypartnership and Yankelovich, consumers are looking not so much for inexpensive travel deals but rather value for money. Early-season deals With that in mind, Destination Hotels & Resorts unveiled a roster of early-season deals that tack on discounts and free services. Destination Resorts Snowmass in Colorado, for example, created a Stay More, Save More offer for bookings made by Nov. 15. Under this offer, rates are discounted 10% for one night's accommodations, 20% for two nights and 30% for three nights. The special is valid through April 10; nondiscounted rates begin at $119 per night. See www.destinationsnowmass.com.
