Renaissance Aruba offers incentives on new agents-only site By Gay Nagle Myers / January 19, 2009 Share 1 -- The 558-room Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino launched an agents-only website Jan. 15 that offers access to resort information for the property's family-oriented Ocean Suites beachfront complex, the adults-only Marina Hotel in downtown Oranjestad and the private, 40-acre Renaissance Island. Once agents log on to the site, www.bookresorttravel.com, "they can sign up for resort e-letters, download detailed templates and share package information with clients," said Rebecca Verschoor-Marval, marketing communications manager. "We want to keep the communication going between our resort and our agent partners to help them stay focused on the profiles of our guests and what these guests want and need when they stay with us," Verschoor-Marval said. The site also enables agents to arrange for a complimentary amenity such as a bottle of wine, rose petal turndown service or a cheese platter to be sent to the guest. A personalized note from the agent is included. Agents who sign on to the site are eligible for an incentive program that pays $10 cash for every revenue-generating room night booked as well as a free night for every seven booked. The website does not have a booking engine but directs agents to the resort's main site at www.marriott.com. Among the packages available is a Fantasy Sports Destination Draft program, where "owners" build a team that competes against other fantasy owners based on statistics generated by pro players or teams. "Fantasy sports is a growth market, and we wanted to be in on the ground floor of this niche," said resort spokesman David Heinzinger. "The adults-only package is designed for sports-crazed guys who want a weekend getaway built around recruiting sessions for the fantasy teams." Included are four rooms for eight people for three nights; a $400 casino credit for the group; $400 in beverage credits; and a suite for the draft session for one day with a cooler of Dutch beer, burgers and WiFi. The rate starts at $3,161 for four rooms for eight guests from Feb. 1 to April 16 for baseball season and from $2,294 from June 1 to Sept. 1 for football season. The Renaissance also offers a year-round, all-inclusive package that covers room, meals, drinks, room tax and service charges, priced from $497 per room, per night, double, through April 16 and from $408 from April 17 through Dec. 21.
