PUERTO VALLARTA, Mexico -- The 45th annual International Sailfish
Tournament is scheduled to take place here from Nov. 16 to 18.
Participants will depart from the Club de Pesca, a fishing club
in Puerto Vallarta, and take part in three days of fishing in the
the Bay of Banderas.
Registration takes place on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. at the Hotel
Casamagna Marriott followed by a get-acquainted dinner at 9
p.m.
The tournament begins with an inauguration ceremony on Nov. 16
at 7 a.m. at the Marina Pier.
After a day of fishing, participants convene at the Hotel
Flamingo Vallarta at 6 p.m. for the reception of the day's
catch.
The tournament follows the same format each of the next two
days, with departure from the Marina Pier in the morning and return
to the Hotel Flamingo Vallarta at 6 p.m. for reception of the day's
catch.
The tournament concludes on Nov. 18 with an awards dinner at 9
p.m.
The awards given are broken down into the categories of
sailfish, marlin, dorado fish, tuna, wahoo and dory fish.
The grand prize in the sailfish category is an award of
approximately $27,000 and two trophies.
Top prizes in the remaining categories range from approximately
$16,000 to two nights at the Casamagna Marriott.
The entry fee for the tournament is approximately $700 per
person, approximately $650 per person if registering before Oct.
31.
In addition, the get-acquainted dinner is approximately $24 per
person, and the awards dinner is approximately $27 per person.
