Editorials Eau No December 24, 1997 Share 1 -- In this age of superstores and ancillary product marketing, we suppose it was only a matter of time before a travel supplier came out with its own fragrance. So we found on our desk the other day two little vials, samplers of Carnival Cruise's signature fragrances, which are available as body lotion, eau de toilette, after-shave spray and in other forms and are called "Cruise for Men" and "Cruise for Women." (Is the double entendre deliberate, do you think, or are we just being our old, lascivious self?) Now, in our male incarnation, we have a nose for certain things, but perfume is not among them. Nevertheless, we couldn't resist taking a sniff and, foolishly, popped open the little vial of Cruise for Women, accidentally spilled some on our hand and spent the rest of the day walking around the newsroom smelling like one of the lesser Gabor sisters. The manufacturer, Fragrances Unlimited Network, of Miami, describes Cruise for Women as "effervescent, playful yet breezy" and the men's line as "bold and masculine ... warm and woodsy." The suggested retail price for the women's perfume is $95 an ounce.
