Editorials Gizmos Galore April 08, 1998 Share 1 -- Back on the amenity trail once again, Insider found a few more items to add to our wish list for the perfect hotel room. These were discovered at Sandals Montego Bay, the resort chain's flagship property in Jamaica. One nifty item was a telephone jack situated near the toilet-paper dispenser in the marble bathroom. How thoughtful. We've seen telephones in bathrooms before, but never just the jack. This leaves it up to the guest whether to keep the privy private or not. Next came the remote control for the air conditioner. It was similar in size and shape to the TV remote, but it had lots of degree readings on the front. Trouble is, the readings were in centigrade, and since we've never been good at converting centigrade (or its evil cousin, Celsius) to Fahrenheit, we opted simply to open the winows and turn on the ceiling fan. Still, it's a terrific idea. To top it off, the colorful bottles of toiletries in their own carry-home plastic case and the mahogany four-poster bed made our wish list, too. It's the basics that win us over every time.
